Leeds United have been credited with an interest in signing Sevilla winger Miguel Sierra.
Daniel Farke has already added two new wingers to his Leeds squad this season in the shape of Jean-Matteo Bahoya and Harry Wilson.
However, the former is only on loan with the Whites having the option to buy him from Eintracht Frankfurt, and is still finding his feet in England.
Meanwhile, Wilson hasn't been the instant impact-maker that many Whites fans thought he would be, with zero goal contributions in six league outings.
If Leeds are to really push for the European places in the second half of the season, a fresh injection of quality out wide may be needed in January.
And in a fresh update from Spain, this could be coming in the form of Sevilla talent, Sierra.
How much is Leeds-linked Miguel Sierra's release clause at Sevilla?
As per a report from prominent Sevilla news outlet Orgullo Biri on Thursday, Leeds are closely tracking Sierra's progress.
They claim that several European sides are taking notice of the 22-year-old, but it's the Whites who may be closest to firming up their interest.
It's revealed that Sierra has a €20million euros (£16.6m) release clause in his contract with the La Liga outfit, and that Leeds are "seriously considering" triggering it.
The report states that up until recently, Sevilla felt fairly protected from would-be transfer hunters, but that's no longer the case given his rapid rise in form and market value.
Sierra is contracted with seven-time Europa League winners until June 2029, but that may not be enough to fend off interest in his services.
However, there is one major spanner in the works that could derail any winter transfer to Leeds, and any other side for that matter.
Alan Brazil makes Dominic Calvert-Lewin 'stop-gap' claim as Leeds ace linked with Man United transfer What injury is Sierra currently dealing with at Sevilla?
Sierra transitioned from Sevilla's B team into their first-team last year, but played just five times for them in competitive fixtures.
However, he's already turned out eight times this season, scoring twice, one of those coming in a La Liga defeat to Atletico Madrid.
Clearly then, he's a winger who has taken sizeable and speedy steps in his development over recent months, and could be a top talent for the future.
But, as detailed in the aforementioned report, Sierra is currently rehabbing after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder in mid-October.
He's not expected to return to action for a few months, and that may put Leeds off from doing a mid-season trade for him.
You mostly sign players in January who can come in and instantly improve your side.
A fully fit Sierra may've been able to do that for Farke, but his injury problem may require him an extended period of time to get up to speed.
