Leeds United have made an exploratory enquiry about AC Milan midfielder Yunus Musah . The West Yorkshire club reached out to both the player's representatives and the Italian giants directly, according to information relayed via Transfer Feed .
No formal bid has landed on the table yet. Milan are standing firm, insisting they see no immediate reason to sell the 23-year-old. Their new technical staff want time to evaluate him properly now that he has come back from a loan spell at Atalanta .
It looks like a classic testing of the waters rather than an aggressive chase. Still, the fact that Elland Road officials have picked up the phone tells us plenty. Musah's stint at Atalanta wrapped up on 30 June 2026, dropping him back at the San Siro with his long-term future up in the air. That uncertainty is precisely why teams around Europe are suddenly alert. Leeds are just one of them.

He is a fascinating footballer, but this link makes very little sense when you look closely. Honestly, it is a bit baffling.
His 2025-26 campaign was fragmented. He clocked up 19 Serie A appearances and scored once for Atalanta before heading back to Milan, where he played just one more time. Useful depth for a squad, sure. But it is hardly the output of an undisputed Premier League starter. A 6.6 average FotMob rating across the year tells a story. Zero league assists tells an even bigger one. The American is quick, runs all day, and covers ground effortlessly. But the data backs up the eye test here. High-end creativity simply is not his game.
Transfermarkt puts his current market value at €14m, though other valuation models think that is way too low. Footballtransfers tags him between €21.7 and €26.5. That is a massive spread, proving nobody really knows what he is worth right now.
The real tactical headache involves finding a spot for him under Daniel Farke. The manager ditched his 4-3-3 last season, pivoting to a 3-5-2 and 3-4-3 that triggered a seven-match unbeaten run. It worked, grinding out a 14th-place Premier League finish. Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka ran the engine room in that setup, letting Brenden Aaronson cause chaos further forward. Musah wants to be a box-to-box presence, a role Leeds already have covered.
Add the arrival of Harry Wilson into the mix. Farke has hinted at wanting a return to a back four, which shakes things up again. Yet, even in a standard 4-2-3-1, breaking up the Ampadu and Tanaka partnership looks unlikely. Musah lacks the defensive discipline to anchor the midfield alone, and he does not possess the vision to play as a traditional number ten.
Let us be realistic. Better profiles exist elsewhere for what Farke actually needs right now. This feels like standard recruitment due diligence rather than a targeted mission. Unless Milan slash their asking price, a deal looks incredibly improbable. Leeds need specific jigsaw pieces, not just extra bodies.
