Leeds United Linked With This Liverpool Player: Should They Sign Him?
Leeds United have turned themselves into one of the Premier League's most awkward opponents, a direct, physical side closer to Everton's scrap-and-set-piece approach than to a passing team. Daniel Farke's players sit 12th with 11 points from nine matches, built on two wins, five draws and two defeats, the latest coming away at Bournemouth .
Leeds lead the division for duels won, interceptions and headed clearances, and they draw more than 40 per cent of their expected goals from set-pieces. That approach follows a 14th-place finish last season, though victories have dried up lately.

In the summer, Leeds signed striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, winger Harry Wilson and defender Tarik Muharemovic, all physically imposing. Farke's 4-2-3-1 asks for a brave build-up, yet most transitions go straight to a big front-runner or an isolated wide outlet.
Behind Calvert-Lewin, Brenden Aaronson holds the central creative role. He has made eight appearances, five from the bench, and brings intense pressing without much goal threat. On the right, Wilson has started seven games as a left-footed runner who cuts inside, with Daniel James also available.
Football Insider's Pete O'Rourke reports that Leeds have fresh encouragement to sign long-term target Harvey Elliott permanently in January. The 23-year-old Liverpool midfielder has not started a match on loan at Valencia and recently saw red for dissent, so the Spanish club is preparing to end the loan early. Andoni Iraola, the Liverpool manager, does not include him in his plans, and Liverpool want a permanent sale rather than another loan.
Elliott works as a number 10 or an inverted right winger. He brings elite spatial intelligence in the half-spaces, a delicate weight of pass and high creative volume, but he lacks top-end recovery speed and struggles in physical and aerial duels. That clashes with a Leeds side leading the league in the exact metrics he cannot supply. Elliott needs possession to hide those limits, while Farke demands an intense out-of-possession workload from his advanced midfielders.

No, Leeds should leave this one alone. Wilson already gives Farke a settled left-footed cutter on the right, and Aaronson occupies the creative pocket, so Elliott would create a bottleneck in a profile Leeds have already optimised. The value trajectory also points down. 18 months across Aston Villa and Valencia have produced no momentum, and the dissent red card adds a disciplinary question to a confidence problem.

Paying a Premier League premium to Liverpool for a player with broken rhythm is poor asset management. Winter funds belong elsewhere. If Leeds United want a top-eight European push, a dynamic ball-carrying central midfielder or defensive depth serves Farke's physical model far better than a low-intensity playmaker. Chasing a name would fix no tactical deficit. Leeds need legs and duels, and Elliott brings neither.
