The previous record was held by former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Colby Armstrong who scored 21 seconds into the first Winter Classic game against the Buffalo Sabres in 2008.
Bruins coach Marco Sturm also made history. He became the first person to play in an outdoor game and coach one.
Sturm scored the game-winning goal in overtime for the Bruins in 2010 during their Winter Classic game against the Philadelphia Flyers at Fenway Park.
