After placing a Waived/Injured designation on safety Loren Strickland on Sunday, the Detroit Lions reached an injury settlement with Strickland on Wednesday, per the NFL's transactions log .
The injury settlement makes Strickland a free agent and opens the door for him to sign with another team when healthy. Strickland, 26, suffered a lower body injury during the Lions ' preseason opener at the Cincinnati Bengals last Thursday.
A Ball State product, Strickland originally signed with the Lions as an undrafted free agent in 2024. Since then, Strickland has largely spent time on Detroit's practice squad, though he has appeared in nine career games.
Detroit re-signed Strickland to a Reserve/Future contract in January.
During the 2022 and 2023 seasons at Ball State, Strickland totaled 50 tackles, two passes defended, two forced fumbles and one sack.
