Real Madrid have no intention of selling right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold despite fresh links of a return to Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.
The England international is being heavily linked with a return to Anfield of late, while Chelsea are also keen to try and bring him back to the Premier League.
However, Jose Mourinho has made it clear that he doesn't want to lose the defender, despite his struggle for football so far this season.
Sources say that Alexander-Arnold is "determined" to fight his way back into the fold in the Spanish capital, after returning to the starting XI last weekend.
The 28-year-old has been limited to just four league starts so far this season, but he is not ready to push for an exit just yet.
As a result, that is set to make it "difficult" for either Liverpool or Chelsea to bring him back to England in January.
Liverpool watch Trent Alexander-Arnold situation closely
Alexander-Arnold's time at Liverpool ended in somewhat bitter circumstances, but that hasn't stopped them from paying close attention to his progress since his exit.
The Liverpudlian turned out 35 times for Real Madrid in all competitions last term, and was also trusted to start in both legs of their Champions League quarter-final defeat to Bayern Munich.
However, he has found regular game time hard to come by so far this season, and that has piqued the attention of his former club once again.
Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson recently told Football Insiderthat he believes Alexander-Arnold could repair his relationship with the Liverpool fans if he ever returned.
With that in mind, the Reds are sure to keep an eye on how his situation develops in Madrid, knowing that a return is always likely to be an attractive proposition for both parties.
Liverpool are 'favourites' to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold Sources: Liverpool advance towards agreeing Ronald Araujo deal Liverpool advance for Ronald Araujo deal
Football Insiderrevealed last weekend that Liverpool are already giving "serious consideration" to triggering their option to buy loanee Ronald Araujo in January.
The Barcelona loanee has excelled at Anfield so far, and the Mersysiders possess the option to buy him in a £47million deal.
Araujo has featured heavily for Liverpool in a right-back role so far this season, but is also equally adept playing at centre-back.
Andoni Iraola is hugely keen on the Uruguay international, and the club are now looking to trigger their purchase option as early as they can.
