The extension is another milestone for Andreessen, who grew up in Lancaster, New York, and went undrafted out of the University at Buffalo before earning his opportunity with his hometown team.
Andreessen's journey has made him a popular figure among Bills fans. Known as "Buffalo Joe," he went from a local tryout invitee to an NFL linebacker, turning a childhood connection to the franchise into a professional career.
His new contract reflects the value Buffalo sees in keeping him around. The Bills have built a strong start to the 2026 season, winning their first three games and entering Sunday's matchup with a chance to extend that run.

The timing of the extension adds another positive development for a team preparing for a divisional challenge. Buffalo hosts New England at Highmark Stadium on Sunday, with the Bills aiming to improve to 4-0.
The Patriots enter the game at 1-2, making the matchup an opportunity for Buffalo to strengthen its early advantage in the AFC East.
