LSU added another quarterback to its roster on Friday night as Middle Tennessee State transfer Kaden Martin announced his commitment to the Tigers via Instagram. Martin becomes the fourth quarterback addition of the offseason for LSU under first-year head coach Lane Kiffin.
Martin's arrival in Baton Rouge also reunites him with his father, Tee Martin, who currently serves as an offensive analyst for the Tigers. Tee Martin was the quarterback of the 1998 Tennessee Volunteers team that won the national championship and SEC title. He joined LSU's staff in March after previously working as a quarterbacks coach in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens for five seasons.
Kaden Martin, originally from Buford (Georgia) High School, was a three-star recruit in the 2022 class and was ranked No. 1,388 overall in the Rivals Industry Ranking, which combines evaluations from major recruiting services. He initially committed to the Miami Hurricanes , where he also played baseball and appeared in two games. Martin later transferred to East Tennessee State, where he continued baseball, before moving to Middle Tennessee State and transitioning back to football. Across his college career, he has not appeared in a football game and spent time as a scout team player at MTSU, with no game appearances in 2025.
Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 231 pounds, Martin is a left-handed quarterback and a redshirt junior with one year of eligibility remaining.
The Tigers quarterback room now includes Arizona State transfer Sam Leavitt, USC transfer Husan Longstreet, Elon transfer Landen Clark, Emile Picarella III, and Martin. Leavitt is recovering from a foot injury suffered in September last year. He is likely to be ready for full summer activities. Among the group, Martin brings the longest college tenure, having spent multiple programs and seasons on scout team duties, adding depth and experience to a heavily populated quarterback room.
The influx of transfers follows LSU losing every scholarship quarterback in December, leading to a complete rebuild at the position.
