A second LSU women's basketball guard entered the transfer portal. Kailyn Gilbert will go in search of a new school, per a report from On3's Talia Goodman.
Gilbert played in five games before taking an extended leave from the team during the 2025-26 season. She totaled 28 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds, shooting 32% from the field.
During the 2024-25 season, her first in Baton Rouge, Gilbert played in 37 games and averaged 9.1 points per game. She came off the bench as a reserve and provided critical minutes, pushing the ball in transition and driving into the lane.
Gilbert opened her collegiate career at Arizona and spent her first two seasons there. As a sophomore, she averaged 15.1 points per game and made 19 starts. She tried her hand in the SEC but couldn't carve out a significant role as a scorer alongside Flau'Jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams.
Gilbert is only the second Tiger to enter the portal. LSU will lose Johnson, but the Tigers are set to return a strong core and contend for a national title again next year.
