Minnesota Golden Gophers kicker Luke Drzewiecki has been named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week after kicking a pair of field goals — including the 46-yard game-winner — in Saturday's 13-10 upset of the No. 15-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes.
His 31-yard field goal gave the Gophers a 3-0 lead in the first quarter.
This the second time this season Drzewiecki has been honored as Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week. He was honored after making both of his field goal attempts and all three of his extra points in a 27-24 road win over Washington. He first connected from 33 yards out with less than a minute to go in the third quarter, before making a career-long 51-yarder in the fourth quarter that proved to be the difference in the game.
