The Green Bay Packers have a seemingly problematic situation involving star running back Josh Jacobs.

The former Alabama Crimson Tide star tailback is in hot water after being charged with battery and criminal destruction of property.

Since the news of his charges emerged, Jacobs has been put on the commissioner exempt list by the NFL. As long as he is on that list, the three-time Pro Bowl running back is not allowed to practice or play, leaving Green Bay with a tricky outlook not just in their running back room but in offense as well, as the former first-round pick is a huge part of Green Bay's attack.
It remains to be seen what the outcome of Jacobs' legal matter will be, but it does look like he is going to miss more than just one game in the 2026 NFL season.
Packers Running Back Jacobs Has Court Appearance Moved

Rob Demovsky of ESPN recently reported that, according to Wisconsin court records, the 28-year-old Jacobs' court appearance has been moved. It was initially scheduled for Nov. 17 , but is now dated closer, with a new date of Sept. 10.

That is days before Green Bay makes its season opener against NFC North rivals Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 13 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
For now, Green Bay is expected to give the RB1 duties to MarShawn Lloyd, who is finally healthy again after missing the entire 2025 NFL campaign due to injuries. Jacobs' absence is an opportunity for Lloyd to prove to the Packers that he can handle the job as the team's primary ball carrier out of the backfield, at least until Jacobs gets cleared to join the action again.
Jacobs, who signed a four-year, $48 million contract with Green Bay in 2024, has rushed for 2,258 yards and 28 touchdowns on 535 carries through 32 games (all starts) with the Packers.
