- Malik Tillman Could Leave Leverkusen In January As Frustration Grows On Both Sides
Malik Tillman's future at Bayer Leverkusen is becoming increasingly uncertain, with both the player and the club reportedly dissatisfied with how his spell at the BayArena has developed.
According to Sky Sport Germany , the 24-year-old attacking midfielder has failed to make the sporting impact expected of him, prompting fresh discussions about a potential departure during the January transfer window.

A loan move is emerging as a realistic solution, with both Tillman and Leverkusen reportedly open to a temporary separation.
Leverkusen Already Considered Letting Tillman Leave
Tillman arrived at Leverkusen with significant expectations, but his performances have not yet translated into the influence the club anticipated.
Sky reports that the Bundesliga side had already indicated a willingness to consider suitable offers for the American international during the summer transfer window.
No agreement materialised, leaving Tillman at the club for the opening months of the 2026/27 campaign.
However, the underlying situation has reportedly not improved sufficiently to change the assessment of either party.

Die Werkself remain unconvinced by Tillman's current contribution, while the midfielder is understood to be frustrated by his sporting situation.
With competition for attacking positions and opportunities to establish himself proving difficult, January could now offer a chance to reset.

Rather than pursuing an immediate permanent transfer, a loan deal could provide a compromise that benefits everyone involved. Tillman is said to be open to spending the second half of the season elsewhere in search of regular playing time.
Leverkusen are also willing to consider such an arrangement.
A temporary move would allow Tillman to regain confidence, establish a more prominent role and demonstrate the qualities that initially attracted the club.
For the Bundesliga side, it would mean retaining control of a player under a long-term contract rather than making a definitive decision on his future after a disappointing period.

The club could then reassess his development and prospects when he returns in the summer.
Several Obstacles Remain Before A Departure
Despite the apparent willingness on both sides, a January move is far from guaranteed.
A suitable destination would need to offer Tillman meaningful playing time, while negotiations would also have to address his salary and the financial structure of any proposed loan.
No specific interested clubs have been identified in the latest report.
That leaves Leverkusen facing an important decision as the winter transfer window approaches.
Keeping Tillman without a clear sporting role risks prolonging the frustration, while allowing him to leave temporarily could help restore his value and confidence.

The fact that player and club are reportedly considering the same solution makes a winter departure increasingly plausible.
For now, Tillman remains a Leverkusen player, but his future beyond January is anything but certain.
