Manchester City return to Champions League action tonight when they take on RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena. Tonight's Matchday four match does loom as an important fixture for Enzo Maresca's side. City have won two and lost one of their first three matches in the Champions League league phase. It does feel vital that they pick up another three points against RB Leipzig tonight given what matches await them in their remaining Champions League fixtures. Manchester City will face a tough RB Leipzig side who will be eager to cause an upset. Martin Demichelis' side have won their past three matches in all competitions and will be eager to pick up a result tonight to aid their Champions League campaign.
Here is the latest City injury and team news and my predicted Manchester City starting eleven for tonight's match.
Manchester City enter tonight's match with only player unavailable due to injury. Antoine Semenyo continues to be sidelined due to a knee injury. Outside of Semenyo, Enzo Maresca has a full squad to choose from for a match that does loom as a critical one for his team.
The City travelling squad which was named yesterday is a strong one. There is no shortage of quality options for Enzo Maresca to select from tonight. What is clear is that Manchester City do need viable goalscoring options outside of Erling Haaland. Based on this, I expect Rayan Cherki and Phil Foden to start at the Red Bull Arena. If they do it should give Enzo Maresca's side more quality in the final third.
Tonight could be the night that Enzo Maresca opts for Elliot Anderson and Ayyoub Bouaddi in midfield to allow Cherki and Foden. If this occurs it would mean that Enzo Fernandez would drop to the bench. Perhaps if this occurs it will give the Manchester City lineup a more balanced look in a match that they must win against RB Leipzig.
My predicted City starting eleven can be seen below.
