Arsenal is one of the clubs that wanted to sign Wesley when he played for Flamengo in the Brazilian top flight, but AS Roma showed the strongest interest in his signature and won the race. The defender has been one of the best players in Europe in his role, as he helps Roma challenge for the Italian league title while also doing well in Europe.

It is just a matter of time before he moves to another top club, and he seems to be heading to the Premier League, where Arsenal maintains a strong interest . However, this time, they are not the only club interested in a move for him, as Football Insider says Manchester United has joined the race and is keen to sign him in January.

United's Entry into the Race

The Red Devils need to strengthen their squad, and they see him as a player to sign to make their squad stronger for the second half of this campaign. They have been following him closely, and in the coming weeks, they will step up their interest to steal a march on Arsenal and add him to their squad.

The competition for his signature is intensifying, with both clubs aware of his potential to transform their defence. Wesley's performances in Serie A and Europe have not gone unnoticed, and his rise has been swift. The January window could be decisive, and the race is far from settled.

Wesley's Appeal and Future Prospects

Wesley could love the move as he would be playing with some fine talents and at least one other Brazilian star who will help him settle. His adaptability and attacking instincts make him an attractive prospect, and both clubs see him as a long-term investment.

Arsenal's long-standing interest gives them an edge, but United's financial muscle and urgency could complicate matters. The defender's next move will be a significant step in his career, and the Premier League seems his likely destination. The coming weeks will be crucial in determining where he ends up.
