Doncic completed the eighth season of his NBA career, his second with the Lakers. He has fully settled in as the team's top star following his departure from the Dallas Mavericks , continuing to shine as one of the best players in the entire league.
Throughout his time in the league, Doncic finished as high as third place in MVP voting during the 2023-24 campaign and as low as eighth place the season prior. While he didn't finish inside the top three this year as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander , Nikola Jokic and Victor Wembanyama took those spots, Doncic got to see himself finish at fourth place in voting.
Doncic was unable to get any first-place votes, seeing Cade Cunningham (fifth place) get two of those votes instead. Despite this, the Lakers star racked up one second-place vote, eight third-place votes, 60 fourth-place votes, and 23 fifth-place votes to end up with 250 total points.
"Shai Gilgeous-Alexander received 83 1st place votes to win the 2025-26 MVP, the NBA has announced. Nikola Jokic finished 2nd place in voting, with 10 1st place votes, followed by Victor Wembanyama, who claimed 5 1st place votes 🍿," the post read.
