The Sweet 16 finished tonight, and the much-anticipated East Region joined the party with Duke vs. St. John's and Michigan State vs. UConn .

And the Final Four before the Final Four didn't disappoint with Duke surviving St. John's and UConn holding off Michigan State , who rallied from down 19.

It's on to the Elite Eight , which has a record four Big Ten teams .

The big news of the day was the return of point guard Caleb Foster for Duke. He didn't start, but he finished strong in the Blue Devils' 80-75 win over the Red Storm. Duke coach Jon Scheyer fought back tears postgame when asked about Foster's performance.

More: Caleb Foster 'had no business playing tonight.' But he did — and led Duke to Elite 8

Armour: My apologies, Big Ten. I was wrong to doubt you

However, Iowa State did not get its injured star, Joshua Jefferson , back for its game against Tennessee . And the Cyclones could have used him.

On Thursday, Iowa knocked off its neighbors Nebraska to reach their first Elite Eight in 39 years.

Texas looked to have another upset on its mind, but a last-second putback by Trey Kaufman-Renn sends No. 2 Purdue to the Elite Eight.

And Illinois overcame Houston's home-cooking, to win 65-55.

Arizona looked every bit a No. 1 seed in its demolition of Arkansas .
