Southern University head coach Marshall Faulk believes Saturday's loss to Jackson State reflects who the program is right now. Faulk was unhappy after the team's 35-17 loss to Jackson State in the Boombox Classic on Saturday.
In post-game comments, he says that the loss defines who the team is right now.

"Right now, listen, man. I can judge everything, and in my eyes, because we lost, everything looks bad. My team deserves better than that for me to judge the team right now through that lens. I want to watch the tape, and then next week I'll give you guys the truthful answer. Right now, I'm emotional, and they're emotional. I just know that we're better than what we did today, but if we continue to come out and be inconsistent, that becomes who we are, and that's who we are right now."
Jackson State jumped out to a 21-3 lead early in the second quarter after two touchdown runs by Nate Blunt, the fourth, and a 70-yard touchdown pass from Jared Lockhart to Nate Rimbert. Southern University looked to ultimately make the game closer, relying on their running back duo of Trey Holly and Mike Franklin.
