- McDermott makes second Mets appearance
ATLANTA—Former Pendleton Heights star Chayce McDermott made his second appearance with the New York Mets in a 4-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves Tuesday evening.
McDermott entered with two runners aboard and two out in the bottom of the seventh with the Braves already leading 2-0. After initially uncorking a wild pitch to advance the runners to second and third, he then induced a fly ball by Austin Riley to end the inning.
In the eighth, with a runner on and two out, Atlanta's Matt Olsen hit his 35th home run of the year off McDermott to double the lead for the Braves.
In two outings with the Mets, he has pitched 3.1 innings and the two runs he allowed Tuesday were the first he had surrendered. He has struck out three batters.
