Just days after his arrest in Memphis, Tennessee, former Kansas Jayhawks star Lagerald Vick, who was a member of Bill Self's 2018 Final Four team, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder.
Vick was arrested on Saturday, July 11, 2026, after an alleged incident that occurred a week earlier on July 4 (via ESPN). Vick's bail has been set at $1.5 million, and he will be arraigned on Monday, July 13, 2026, in the alleged shooting incident. A bail review will follow on Tuesday, July 14.
Vick was also charged with two felonies and a misdemeanor stemming from a separate incident involving his ex-girlfriend earlier in the year. Vick allegedly broke into her house and was charged with breaking in and theft. His court date for that incident is set for Thursday, July 30.

Sadly, these are not Vick's only controversies. While a freshman in college in 2015, Vick was the subject of a Title IX investigation. Vick allegedly kicked and punched a female student in the arm several times, though he wasn't charged.

Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports.
A man was hospitalized for a gunshot wound to the back. He told police that he had gotten into a verbal confrontation with another man at around 11 pm on July 4. When he turned away to run after spotting a gun, he was shot in the back. The man later identified Vick as the alleged shooter out of a photo lineup after giving police Vick's first name.
As part of Kansas' 2018 Final Four team, Vick averaged a career-high 14.1 points per game. He also averaged four rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. He played in 23 games that season, starting 20 of them.
Vick went undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft and has played for teams like the Yulon Luxgen Dinos, Team Cali, and the Southland Sharks.
