Inter Miami came from behind to beat New England Revolution 2-1 on Sunday, with Lionel Messi scoring once and setting up another goal to secure all three points.
After a goalless first half, New England took the lead in the 53rd minute through Dániel Gazdag , who finished from close range after receiving a pass from Ilay Feingold .
Inter Miami responded in the 69th minute when Messi produced a clever header to find Germán Berterame , who powered the ball into the net to make it 1-1.
The Argentine then completed the comeback with seven minutes remaining. After combining with Telasco Segovia , Messi drove into the penalty area and fired a low shot past the goalkeeper to seal the victory.
The result moved Inter Miami above New England in the Eastern Conference standings and strengthened their position ahead of the MLS Cup play-offs. It also secured the Herons a place in next year's Concacaf Champions Cup.
Messi took his league tally to 26 goals and 16 assists this season.
