- Miami Dolphins signed former Kentucky Wildcats offensive tackle
The Kentucky Wildcats have had several players change teams at the NFL level in the past few seasons. They've certainly been able to develop players, especially on the defensive end of the ball, to compete at that level, which is a positive for Will Stein, who is taking over the program.
That said, the most recent transaction is Marques Cox, who is signing with the Miami Dolphins . Cox spent last season on the practice squad for the Arizona Cardinals and the Denver Broncos , never getting much traction with either of those organizations. The Dolphins could be a solid home for Cox to develop further.
He spent his collegiate career with Northern Illinois before joining Mark Stoops' Wildcats. The 6-foot-5 offensive tackle spent five seasons at Northern Illinois but played in six games or fewer in two of them. He moved to Kentucky, where he saw snaps in 13 games in 2023 and then 12 games in 2024, having been a staple for Stoops on the offensive line.
Here's a closer look at his NFL career, per Kentucky Sports Radio's Zack Geoghegan .
"Cox was not selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, but found his way onto a couple of franchises last season. He originally signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in April 2025, but was waived right before the start of the regular season. The 6-foot-5, 310-pound native of Illinois then signed with the Arizona Cardinals ' practice squad in December before his contract expired at the end of the regular season. The Broncos scooped him up again in January, but waived him for a second time earlier this month," Geoghegan wrote.
Cox was a fourth-team All-SEC in the preseason for Phil Steele and a third-team All-SEC for Athlon, so he had high expectations going into the 2024 year with the Wildcats. He had a team-high 21 knockdowns, per UK Athletics .
