Mike Evans , one of the greatest wide receivers of this generation, has set the record straight regarding his NFL future — he's committed to playing in 2026 and open to exploring free agency . And that could be great news for the Pittsburgh Steelers .
As rumors regarding Evans' playing career heated up, Evans' agent, Deryk Gilmore, confirmed to The Insiders that the All-Pro wide receiver would play in 2026, but it doesn't necessarily mean a return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers .
"He is opening it up," Gilmore said via NFL.com's Nick Shook. "He will play next season with someone. It could be Tampa . But he will definitely play a 13th season."
Evans dealt with multiple injuries, such as a hamstring setback that forced him to miss several weeks and a broken clavicle, which kept him sidelined the majority of the season. He returned with a vengeance, however, catching 6 passes for 132 yards in his first game back.
At 32 years old, Evans proved he can still compete with the very best in the league, potentially giving the Steelers their answer at wide receiver opposite DK Metcalf .
