Knicks fans have been one of the defining sights of the NBA playoffs, with Madison Square Garden producing one of the loudest atmospheres in the league.
Their travelling support has also become part of the story, with New York fans following the team deep into a Finals run. But the last two games have shifted that attention in the wrong direction.

After a Spurs fan was assaulted following Game 3 and videos appeared to show objects being thrown at Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs outside their team hotel after Game 4, ESPN's Mike Greenberg delivered a blunt message.

Greenberg, one of ESPN's best-known hosts, made clear that he was not targeting the wider Knicks fanbase. His anger was aimed at those involved in behaviour that crossed into abuse and violence.
This Thursday, he said on ESPN Get Up (via The Big Lead): "For those, I don't want to call them fans, I don't even know what you want to say. If you're throwing eggs at Victor Wembanyama, and the other night, if you're beating up people, threatening or doing anything to people who are wearing Spurs jerseys, just know that you are a disgrace.

"You're not disgracing the city, you're disgracing yourself and everyone who knows you. And that should go without saying," the anchor concluded.
The Game 3 incident involved a 39-year-old Spurs fan who police said was surrounded, punched and kicked before his jersey was stolen. He was treated for facial cuts and bruising.
On the other hand, last night, the controversy involved not only supporters, but also Wembanyama.
After Game 4, footage then appeared to show fans targeting Wembanyama with objects as San Antonio returned to the hotel.
Passion has powered the Knicks' playoff story, but these episodes moved beyond rivalry and into something the sport cannot excuse.
