- MM 10.30: Former Maryland men’s basketball forward Elijah Saunders gets fifth year eligibility with Providence

Former Maryland forward Elijah Saunders has revived his college basketball career for a fifth season after an injunction in a California case involving more than 70 athletes listed as plaintiffs.
The forward will continue his career at Providence College this season after spending one season at Maryland. In that one season, Saunders started 32 games for Maryland, averaging nine points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Saunders also shot 44.1% from the field, including 41.1% from beyond the arc, making him the team's most dominant 3-point shooter last season.
After last season, many believed that the 6-foot-8 forward had maxed out his eligibility to play at the college level. However, after becoming eligible to play for a fifth season as part of the ruling on the California injunction, Providence men's basketball coach Bryan Hodgson decided to add Saunders to the roster, hoping to see a continuation of the skills Saunders demonstrated in years prior.
