The Indianapolis Colts didn't finish their two joint practices with the Atlanta Falcons the way they started them.
Veteran tight end Mo Alie-Cox acknowledged the Colts had some trouble adjusting to Atlanta's speed and physicality in the run game on Wednesday before responding during Thursday's final training camp practice.
"I think it was great progress. Going against a different opponent (who is) physical and fast," Alie-Cox said, via Colts.com . "I think yesterday we kind of struggled with it, but I think today we made improvements and saw some good yards in the run game. We protected better today also."
That response is reassuring for an Indianapolis offense preparing to transition from training camp into the final stretch of the preseason.
The Colts' running game had a tougher time finding room during Wednesday's joint session. But Alie-Cox's assessment suggests the offense made the necessary adjustments one day later, while the veteran also mentioned improved pass protection.
To end Thursday's practice, the Colts' first and second team offenses each won their respective two-minute periods against the Atlanta defense.
Thursday officially closed the Colts' 2026 training camp at Grand Park, as Indianapolis will now turn its attention toward Saturday's preseason matchup with Atlanta.
Head coach Shane Steichen also came away encouraged by the team's progress throughout camp, saying Thursday he has seen players on both sides of the ball make strides over the last month.
As for Alie-Cox, the improvement between two practices against the same opponent was nicely noticeable.
