Indiana Hoosiers players Stephen Daley and Kellan Wyatt were granted another temporary injunction
by Monroe Circuit Court Judge Kara Krothe on Wednesday. The ruling allows them to resume playing in the 2026 season.
The two Hoosiers players were among a group of athletes seeking extra eligibility from the 2022 recruiting class. In August, Judge Charlotte Sweeney of the U.S. District Court of Colorado granted a preliminary injunction for the entire 2022 class. Importantly, neither Daley nor Wyatt redshirted, were drafted or joined an NFL roster during the summer. The fifth-year seniors have now received the green light from the court to play in 2026.
The news left fans reacting with different points of view on X.

"How much help does that team need," one fan wrote.
"Was their schedule not easy enough?" another fan asked.
"Why? If LSU wasn't able to do this with SEC stepping in, maybe Big10 should as well?" another fan reacted.
"Well, they had to use 'NCAA Ineligible' players last year too.. so definitely not surprised 🤦♂️🤦♂️ But let's get mad a (LSU coach) Lane (Kiffin) right 🤣😂🤣" one fan remarked.
"I mean, the schedule was already easy what do they need these two guys for?" one fan asked.
"Daly played 4 years already with s minimum of 10 games per year that he played, here we go again, this is a disgrace," one fan said. Daley played 47 games (30 starts) in four seasons, including his first three at Kent State and last season at Indiana. Kellan Wyatt played 42 (35 starts), with his first three seasons at Maryland before becoming a Hoosier last season.
Indiana's Duo Stephen Daley and Kellan Wyatt Were Ineligible Last Week
The latest court update comes as a relief for both players, Stephen Daley and Kellan Wyatt, since they were ineligible for the Hoosiers' Week 3 game against Western Kentucky. Their temporary restraining order protecting their eligibility expired and they were awaiting a judge's ruling on a preliminary injunction that would allow them to resume playing in the 2026 season.

The eligibility issue stems from the NCAA's new five-for-five eligibility model, leaving the athletes from the 2022 high school recruiting class out of favor.
After a Colorado federal court issued a ruling to allow affected players to play this year, the NCAA's request to put a stay on this relief was approved by the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Daley and Wyatt initially received relief with the help of a restraining order issued on Sept. 4. As a result, both players were eligible to participate in No. 5 Indiana's first two games, blowout wins over North Texas (52-16) and FCS member Howard (55-0). The TRO expired on Sept. 14, making them ineligible for the game against Western Kentucky, a 38-0 romp.
Daley played in Indiana's first two games and recorded six tackles. Meanwhile, Wyatt was eligible but didn't play in any of the two games.
