Mystics vs. Sky Best Bet: Kamilla Cardoso Over 12.5 Points
Before the league took a pause for international play, Kamilla Cardoso was operating as one of the most dominant paint presences in the WNBA. The 6-foot-7 center went on a tear heading into the break, clearing 12.5 points in nine of her final 11 games while averaging a formidable 16.0 points per contest over that stretch.
Cardoso presents an uncompromising profile for opposing defenses: she works strictly on the low block and off offensive glass, refusing to settle for low-percentage perimeter looks. That exclusive focus on high-efficiency paint scoring keeps her offensive floor remarkably high night in and night out.
On paper, matching up against Washington looks daunting, but the Mystics have maintained one of the league's top overall marks in opponent field goal percentage at 43%. However, recent trends tell a very different story.
Over their last three games before the break, Washington's defensive metrics began to slide significantly:
Opponent Field Goal Percentage: Allowed shooting percentage rose by 5 percentage points over their last three outings.
Interior Leakage: In their final tune-up before the break, the Mystics allowed the Los Angeles Sparks to shoot effectively from all areas of the floor (56%).
Previous Meeting: In Chicago 's lone matchup against Washington this season, Cardoso put up 12 points.
With Washington's interior defense showing visible fatigue before the break, Cardoso is primed to exploit their recent regression in the paint.
Action Network's PRO Projections isolate Cardoso's line as one of the top value plays on the entire slate, giving her a 20.3% edge. By factoring in her pre-break 16.0 PPG average and Washington's recent defensive slip, the model projects her well clear of the 12.5 milestone.
While the international hiatus provided Washington time to regroup defensively, stopping Cardoso's size and interior position remains a major hurdle. Given her high-percentage shot selection and recent scoring trajectory, expectations dictate another strong low-post performance.
Trust the projection model and take advantage of the favorable line.
Best Bet: Kamilla Cardoso Over 12.5 Points (-129, DraftKings )
