The St. Louis Cardinals are trying to find any positive to take from this week so far, as many would say it's been a whirlwind of events. They've lost three straight games, with two of them coming against the Milwaukee Brewers , and there was also some drama between the two teams in their latest game .
There is some good news for the Cardinals, as Nathan Church is progressing from his left shoulder strain, which forced him to go on the 10-day injured list.
"In non-crotch-related news, Nathan Church's checkup with a specialist went well yesterday and he got the green light to start a plyometric and strengthening program. Still a bit away from any kind of rehab/timeline," Jeff Jones of BND wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Church had played well before his injury, slashing .247/.282/.390 with a .672 OPS, five homers, 18 RBIs, four stolen bases, six doubles and 17 runs scored.
The hope is that Church can return as soon as possible and can help the Cardinals get out of this slump.
As far as the crotch-related news, it doesn't seem like everything is cleared up from the incident when Abner Uribe made a gesture toward the Cardinals' dugout after striking out Alec Burleson .
After the game, Christian Yelich claimed that the beef between the teams following the gesture had been handled. Unfortunately, not everybody feels that way, and Burleson said he hadn't heard anything from the Brewers
"Alec Burleson said he hasn't heard from anyone on the Brewers as of this morning and that he didn't see Uribe in real time last night. 'I don't know what would have happened if I did,'" Jones reported.
It will definitely be interesting to see what happens as they face off today.
