According to The Athletic's Spencer Nusbaum , former San Diego Padres and Chicago Cubs reliever Tom Cosgrove will join the Nats in Washington.
Cosgrove was acquired from the Houston Astros last week.
He has thrown 70 MLB innings since 2023, posting a 3.86 ERA with 62 strikeouts.
The 30-year-old had a tremendous rookie year with the Padres, posting a 1.75 ERA with just 31 hits allowed in 51.1 innings.
"Cosgrove doesn't throw especially hard, averaging in the 87-89 mph range with his four-seamer and sinker, but he pitches from a low slot that has occasionally worked on hitters," Darragh McDonald of MLB Trade Rumors wrote.
