In a World Cup match between Switzerland and Bosnia and Herzegovina that had offered few chances up to that point, the Swiss had the opening goal at their feet - and what a goal it would have been. After a cross from deep by Freuler , Ndoye soared high for an overhead kick.
Bosnia keeper Vasile managed to get his hands up just in time and prevent the ball from going in, denying what would likely have been the best goal of the World Cup so far. Shortly afterward, however, it turned out that the Swiss forward had been offside anyway. So in the end, there was not even a corner.
