- NFL Expert Highlights San Francisco 49ers’ Biggest Issue on Offense
The San Francisco 49ers' biggest offensive concern has been a growing list of injuries at wide receiver, forcing the team to adjust its personnel despite maintaining solid production. The mounting absences have tested the depth of the receiving corps and created additional challenges for an offense that needs reliable options in the passing game.
San Francisco entered the season expecting several receivers to play important roles, but injuries quickly disrupted those plans. Ricky Pearsall, De'Zhaun Stribling, Christian Kirk and Demarcus Robinson were among the players sidelined, with all four landing on injured reserve before Week 3. Losing so many potential contributors at once left the coaching staff with fewer established options and increased the responsibility placed on the remaining healthy players.

The situation became more complicated when Deebo Samuel Sr. missed multiple weeks with a hamstring injury. Samuel's versatility can give the 49ers another dimension in their offensive scheme, making his absence another setback for the receiving group. Mike Evans also dealt with physical issues before leaving a Monday night game with Achilles tendinitis, adding another concern to a unit already struggling to maintain continuity.

Despite the injuries, San Francisco has managed to avoid a complete offensive collapse. The team's ability to produce under difficult circumstances reflects the system's flexibility and the efforts of players who have had to take on expanded roles. However, sustained success becomes more difficult when the lineup changes regularly, particularly as quarterbacks and receivers work to establish timing and consistency.

San Francisco's wide receiver corps has been revealed as the team's biggest issue on offense. This is detailed more in an analysis by Nick Wagoner for ESPN.
Biggest issue on offense:Wide receiver injuries
The Niners haven't had many problems in terms of production, but they have had a significant amount of attrition at wideout. Ricky Pearsall (knee), De'Zhaun Stribling (ankle), Christian Kirk (calf) and Demarcus Robinson (ankle) were supposed to be four of the team's top five receivers and all landed on IR before Week 3. That doesn't account for Deebo Samuel Sr.'s multiweek hamstring injury or the various bumps and bruises Mike Evans played through before departing Monday night's game with Achilles tendinitis. The good news? Most of them are expected back this season, but the 49ers have had to scramble in the meantime.
The expected return of several injured players offers some encouragement for the 49ers as the season continues. Their availability could restore depth, create more competition for playing time and give the coaching staff greater freedom to design its passing attack. Until then, San Francisco must find ways to distribute targets effectively while avoiding an excessive workload for its remaining healthy receivers.

Ultimately, the 49ers' challenge is less about finding offensive production than keeping enough receivers healthy to sustain it. The injuries have forced the team to rely on adjustments and depth while limiting the continuity needed for a dependable passing game. If key contributors return as expected, San Francisco could regain stability at wide receiver, but managing the absences will remain essential to its offensive outlook in the weeks ahead.
