The NFL has suspended referee Adrian Hill for one game after reviewing an incident from Sunday's Vikings-Dolphins game involving Minnesota linebacker Eric Wilson.
Hill, a crew chief who has worked in the NFL since 2010, was suspended for "unprofessional conduct toward a player," according to the league. The suspension was handed out by Ramon George, the NFL's VP of Officiating. Another referee, line judge Jeff Seeman, has been suspended for two games after a viral interaction with Cardinals tight end Trey McBride on Sunday.
Wilson was trying to corral Dolphins quarterback Malik Willis on a first-quarter play that had been blown dead. Hill came running towards the action, blowing his whistle, and went down hard after running back Ollie Gordon II shoved Wilson, who collided with the official. Hill popped up and reacted angrily with the Vikings' linebacker, even though Wilson had tried to help him to his feet.
