- Ngongba, Boozer reach milestones in 61-point win vs. Coastal Carolina

Duke enjoyed a beatdown of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Thursday night, scoring 50 or more points in each half to earn a 113-52 victory , their second consecutive to begin the 2026-27 season.
The No. 2 Blue Devils' incredible 3-point shooting was a large reason why, as Jon Scheyer's squad converted on a whopping 50 percent of their long-range attempts. Ball movement was another key for success, as the Blue Devils recorded assists on 25 of their 38 made field goals.
Impressive individual play contributed to the win as well, with two players reaching milestones in the victory. Patrick Ngongba II was the most notable, as the junior center recorded a new career-high in scoring, finishing with 28 points on 10-for-13 shooting, including 2-for-3 from 3-point range.
But it was starting point guard Cayden Boozer who achieved multiple milestones. For starters, Boozer finished with his first career double-double, racking up 11 points and 12 assists. Those 12 assists marked a career-high for Boozer, who only turned the ball over once. Through the first two games of the year, Boozer is averaging 10 points, 7.5 assists and two steals.
Now with a combined margin of victory of 95 points through their first two contests, Duke will face their first test Tuesday, hosting No. 6-ranked Michigan State.
