- Northwestern Injury Report Remains Mostly Unchanged Ahead of Oregon
Northwestern will have to manage several key absences heading into Saturday's matchup against Oregon , with defensive lineman Brendan Flakes now officially listed as out on the latest Big Ten availability report.
There were no other major changes to the Wildcats' injury situation , but the loss of Flakes adds another challenge for a team preparing for a difficult road test.

Flakes joins safety Robert Fitzgerald and defensive back Josh Fussell among the players listed as out. All three absences will be felt as Northwestern prepares to face an Oregon offense that will look to take advantage of opportunities against the Wildcats' defense.

Fitzgerald has been an important piece of Northwestern's secondary, while Fussell's absence further impacts the team's defensive depth. Flakes has also made valuable contributions, particularly on special teams.
He made a memorable impact by blocking a key field goal in Northwestern's win over Michigan State . His absence takes away another contributor who has shown the ability to make important plays in critical moments.

With multiple defensive players unavailable, Northwestern will need others to step up. The Wildcats have received contributions from different players throughout their recent winning streak, and that depth will be important against an Oregon team looking to find its offensive rhythm.
Northwestern's defense will need to communicate, stay disciplined and avoid giving up explosive plays.
On the offensive side, there is a positive development with tight end Luke Dehnicke no longer appearing on the availability report. Dehnicke has been sidelined since the Sept. 25 game against Indiana , when he recorded seven receptions for 140 yards.
His return gives quarterback Aidan Chiles another reliable option in the passing game and adds another weapon to an offense that has continued to find success.

Dehnicke's ability to create separation and make plays downfield could make Northwestern even more difficult to defend. With the Wildcats already showing they can spread the ball around and attack opponents in different ways, having another experienced target available is an encouraging sign.
Northwestern enters the Oregon matchup riding a four-game winning streak and will look to keep that momentum going. While injuries create challenges, the Wildcats have a chance to show their roster depth and prove that they belong here.
With players needing to step up defensively and Dehnicke providing a potential boost on offense, Northwestern will look to make the most of its available personnel against the Ducks.
