Two players from LSU Tigers
coach Lane Kiffin's former squad, the Ole Miss Rebels
, Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris
, will not get the chance to return to college football and play once more for Kiffin. Throughout the current offseason, Kiffin and his staff fought with the NCAA to allow them to return to the sport. However, the final decision is not in their favor.
On Tuesday, Sept. 8, college football insider Pete Thamel reported that LSU is officially adding two other players to bring its roster to 105 players for the season. The decision officially eliminates any chance for Wright and Harris to join the Tigers this season. Now, both players will have to seek playing opportunities elsewhere, whether it's professionally or at the collegiate level.

One user on X discussed how LSU's decision can affect Wright and Harris' futures in and out of the field.
After months of legal battles over eligibility, Wright and Harris reportedly received clearance to return to college football ahead of Week 1 of this season. Surprisingly, though, they were not inserted into the lineup during LSU's campaign opener against the Clemson Tigers
. Perhaps this was the first sign they were not going to be part of the team moving forward after all.
The LSU Tigers complete their 2026 roster with Aidan Anding
and Gabriel Reliford
In a report
by ESPN reporter Max Olson later on the same day, the LSU Tigers announced that they had completed their 105-man roster for the 2026 season with returning players Aidan Anding and Gabriel Reliford. Both players recently played for the Tigers. Anding spent his freshman year at LSU while Reliford has been a part of the team for the past two years.

Anding is a cornerback, while Reliford is a defensive end, unlike tight end Dae'Quan Wright. Still, the Tigers are determined to qualify for the College Football Playoff this year. Despite having an incomplete roster, they blew out coach Dabo Swinney's Clemson Tigers 51-10 in their Week 1 matchup. LSU will face the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs next on Saturday, Sept. 12.
