The Ohio State basketball team looked quite impressive in an exhibition trip to Puerto Rico. The Buckeyes dominated Los Boris 117-75, showing a nice balance of scoring and shooting. After the first quarter, Ohio State was already winning 25-14, and the Buckeyes built that to a 59-39 lead at halftime.
Not much is known from the game, but a box score was released. It is notable that of the 41 made baskets, 33 of them were assisted, which indicates promising ball movement. With only seven turnovers, Ohio State will hope this showing of taking care of the ball carries over into the season.
The Buckeyes shot 55 percent from the field and 49 percent from 3-point range, going 21-43 from deep. It also appears to have been a good game on the glass for Ohio State as they dominated the boards 46-30.
Jimmie Williams led all players with 20 points, four rebounds, and two assists while hitting 6-of-7 shots from 3-point range. Freshman Anthony Thompson scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 19 minutes. John Mobley Jr . had 13 points, and Justin Pippen had 12, further showcasing the all-around balance of the Ohio State attack.
Ohio State head coach Jake Diebler is expected to meet the media via Zoom after the second game is played sometime on Monday.
