We got another Ohio State football black stripe alert, and this time it's a young wide receiver who was honored. Out of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jerquaden Guilford has done enough to officially enter the Buckeye "brotherhood" when he was singled out in a short ceremony that had his black stripe removed to reveal the scarlet stripe down the middle of his silver lid on Thursday.
As you would expect from the receiver position these days on the banks of the Olentangy, Guilford was highly regarded coming out of Northrop High School. According to the 247Sports composite rankings , he was ranked as the No. 6 wide receiver and 45th overall prospect in the 2026 class. He'll add to the already talented and deep receiver room and look to carve out a role and path moving forward.
"I just want to say thank you, Jesus, first of all. Without him, I wouldn't be here," Guliford said. "I wanna say thank you to BIA (Best in America) for making me better every day. To the coaching staff, Coach Mick (Mickey Mariotti) creating the standard for me. I ain't have that at home, so creating that standard for me. Coach Day for bringing me out here, and just thank you to all y'all for making it feel like a brotherhood. Buckeyes !"
Guilford's honor adds to the myriad of black stripes that have been removed so far in 2026, from spring through fall camp. There's sure to be more all the way towards the season opener on Sept. 5 vs. Ball State at home.
