Ohio State starting right guard Tegra Tshabola intends to enter the transfer portal for his final year of eligibility, according to reports.
His agency 3 Strand Sports and Entertainment told 247Sports about his plans on Jan. 4.
Tshabola had made 28 starts for the Buckeyes until an unspecified injury sidelined him for their upset loss to Miami in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals on Dec. 31.
Before the injury, his grip on the starting spot appeared to be slipping as Joshua Padilla and Gabe VanSickle began rotating with him during the second half of the regular season, as well as the Big Ten championship game.
Despite inconsistent stretches in his second season as a starter along the interior of the offensive line, Tshabola was still a third-team All-Big Ten selection , according to media members who cover the conference.
The 6-foot-6, 322-pound redshirt junior lineman from West Chester was a highly ranked four-star tackle before moving to guard at Ohio State. He initially beat out Carson Hinzman in a preseason battle in 2024 to start at right guard.
Tshabola's pending entry to the portal , which opened for two weeks on Jan. 2, points to the possibility of VanSickle or Padilla taking over his spot at right guard in 2026.
The Buckeyes do not project to have many holes on the offensive line as they could return the rest of their starters, as all of them have at least one or two remaining years of eligibility.
There's also the possibility of them upgrading through the portal after allowing 10 sacks between consecutive loss to Indiana and Miami to end the season.
