PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers undrafted free agent defensive tackle Kevin Jobity Jr. was the biggest surprise on the team's initial 53-man roster. On Monday, general manager Omar Khan explained why the Syracuse product deserved to make the roster.
"He earned it. I've got to give him credit. The more he was around, the more disruptive he was," Khan said.
Jobity had a sack for a loss of seven yards in last Thursday night's preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills .
Jobity, a 6-foot-4, 308-pound defensive tackle from Buffalo, spent his entire four-year college career at Syracuse, appearing in 38 games and making 17 starts.
Jobity started the final two games of the 2023 season, then started the first five games in 2024 before suffering a season-ending injury. In 2025, he returned to Syracuse, appearing in all 12 games and making 10 starts.
He also posted his best statical season, recording 30 tackles, six tackles for loss and five sacks, along with one pass defended. In addition to his five sacks, he had 18 hurries, per Pro Football Focus. Against Pitt on Oct. 18, Jobity had six tackles and a career-high three sacks.
In pre-draft testing, he performed well, with a 5.03-second 40-yard dash and a 32-inch vertical helping him to an 8.87 https://ras.football/ras-information/?PlayerID=31054&ovl=Syracuse
Jobity spent most of his time at Syracuse playing in the three-technique, but can also play five-technique, which projects him as an end in the Steelers' base 3-4 defense and a tackle in the team's 4-2 sub packages.
The Steelers defensive line will feature Keeanu Benton , Yahya Black , Derrick Harmon , Cameron Heyward , Sebastian Joseph-Day , Gabriel Rubio and Jobity.
