An extremely disappointing and subpar season for the Oregon Ducks in 2025-26 came to a finish on Tuesday, as the Ducks were defeated by the Maryland Terrapins, 70-60, in Chicago in the Big Ten tournament.
Oregon produced one of the worst first half performances offensively in recent college basketball memory, as they made just two field goals and scored 12 points. They allowed 33 points to the Terrapins, going into the halftime locker room down a staggering 21 points — despite being the higher seed and the designated home team.
While the Ducks did go on a run to begin the second half, at one time getting the lead under double figures, Maryland's guard proved to be too much to handle in the end. Meanwhile, Oregon has struggled mightily all season long on the perimeter, with those woes showing up for a final time.

Final — Oregon 60, Maryland 70
At the very least, the Ducks didn't embarrass themselves by rebounding with tremendous effort in the second half. However, the struggles to shoot the ball and compete against the Terrapins' effort proved to be too much to overcome.
Need Another Push — Oregon 43, Maryland 58 (5:37 2H)
The Ducks have gone on a quick 9-0 run, but will need much more than that in order to get all the way back into the game. We'll see if they can make it competitive in the final minutes.
Comeback Thwarted — Oregon 36, Maryland 58 (7:31 2H)
The Terrapins quickly responded back with a run of their own, going on a 15-5 run to push the lead back over 20 points. The Ducks would need a near miracle to come back from this one.
Making a Push — Oregon 31, Maryland 43 (13:32 2H)
The Ducks are currently embarking on an 11-2 run with this newfound second-half energy, forcing a Buzz Williams Maryland timeout.
Finally Some Energy — Oregon 26, Maryland 41 (15:31 2H)
Considering the first half performance, the Ducks have exploded out of the gates offensively, scoring 14 points in four and a half minutes. Kwame Evans Jr. just converted and has a free throw awaiting after the break with the chance to cut the lead to 14. Oregon has noticeably upped the intensity.
Pack it in — Oregon 12, Maryland 33 (Halftime)
Oregon's 2025-26 campaign has been bad, but this first half has been 100 times worse. The Ducks don't even want to be in Chicago. 20 more minutes until their season comes to a close.
Cover Your Eyes — Oregon 10, Maryland 25 (3:32 1H)
This is downright abysmal basketball being played by the Ducks right now. 2-for-17 from the field. Lack of effort defensively and rebounding. Can't get much worse.
Not Showing Up — Oregon 8, Maryland 19 (8:52 1H)
So far, it doesn't look like the Ducks even want to be playing today. They have shown little aggressiveness on offense and have allowed several straight-line drives to the hoop on defense. If they don't want their season to end, they'll need to start playing hard. We'll see if they actually want to do so or not over the final nine minutes of the half.
Dry Spell Continues — Oregon 3, Maryland 12 (11:43 1H)
The Ducks have still not made a field goal from the field, instead relying on three free throws for their points. They're getting open shots, but just not knocking them down. On the other end, the Terrapins are also getting good looks but have managed just 36% from the field.
Lid on the Rim — Oregon 0, Maryland 9 (15:49 1H)
Through just over four minutes, the Ducks still have not scored. They're giving up easy buckets on the other end to the Terrapins, a losing formula. If they don't pick it up soon, this one could get away from Oregon.
