Heading into the 2026 college football season, the Oregon Ducks are thought to have one of the best, if not the best, offenses in the nation. Led by Heisman candidate quarterback Dante Moore and a stable of blue-chip playmakers at his disposal, the Ducks could have one of the most dynamic offenses in the country.
Jamari Johnson should be a huge part of the unit's success next season, taking over the mantle as the starter at tight end after Kenyon Sadiq was selected in the first round by the New York Jets this spring. Some NFL draft experts believed Johnson could be an even better prospect, and he is widely ranked as the top tight end who could be available in the 2027 NFL Draft .
However, EA Sports College Football 27 needs to see more from Johnson. On Wednesday, EA Sports announced the top 10 ratings for different positions, including tight end. While many figured Johnson would top the list, he came in at No. 3 with a 90 overall rating.
LSU's Trey'Dez Green and Texas Tech's Terrance Carter Jr. topped the list with a 92 overall rating. Both were focal parts of their respective offenses last season and have pro potential, but it was a surprise to see Johnson finish behind both pass-catchers.
Let's compare how last season went for each tight end:
-
Green: 11 games, 33 catches, 433 yards, 7 TD, 13.1 YPC
-
Carter Jr.: 13 games, 55 catches, 624 yards, 5 TD, 11.3 YPC
-
Johnson: 15 games, 32 catches, 510 yards, 3 TD, 15.9 YPC
While Johnson did appear in the most games amongst the trio, his numbers stand out while operating as the backup tight end in an Oregon offense that didn't push the ball vertically as often as it could. Now, as the leader along the line of scrimmage , the 6-foot-5 tight end is in position to explode and solidify himself as the best tight end in the country in his junior season.
Early release for the game starts on July 2 for MVP+ members, and the deluxe edition of the game will be available for download on July 6. The game will officially be released worldwide on July 9.
