The Baltimore Orioles may have their All-Star closer back in the mix soon.
The right-hander began a rehab assignment at Double-A Chesapeake on Sunday.
Felix Bautista retired just one of the five batters he faced in his first rehab game yesterday. He allowed one hit and walked three batters.
According to Michael Howes of the Baltimore Sun , Bautista's fastball averaged 95.1 mph, and he hit 97 mph on one pitch.
A year ago, Bautista underwent surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and torn labrum. He made 35 appearances for the Orioles in 2025, striking out 50 batters in 34.2 innings.
Bautista missed the entire 2024 season due to Tommy John Surgery, so the Orioles will closely monitor his progress.

He earned an All-Star selection in 2023, posting a 1.48 ERA with 33 saves while striking out a staggering 16.2 batters per nine innings.
It's unclear how many rehab outings Bautista will require before returning to Baltimore 's bullpen.
Having the 6-for-8 flamethrower in the postseason would be a major lift for the Orioles.
