It was a much-needed performance from Bane and Wager, as the Magic have recently lost Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs to injuries while starting the season with a 1-3 record.
Here's what Wagner had to say following the win.
The team's response following its previous loss to Toronto: Wagner praised the Magic's ability to bounce back against the same opponent, emphasizing improved defensive execution, intensity and overall energy. He highlighted the team's composure during Toronto's scoring runs, particularly in the fourth quarter, and credited the players for remaining prepared and contributing when called upon.
Jase Richardson's development and contributions: Wagner praised Richardson's growing confidence and ability to impact the game despite his limited NBA experience. He highlighted Richardson's plus-26 rating as evidence of his contributions beyond scoring, emphasizing how impressive it was for a young player still adjusting to the league. Wagner encouraged Richardson to remain aggressive as he continues developing his role within the team.

Wendell Carter Jr.'s strong start to the season: Wagner praised Carter's contributions on both ends of the floor, highlighting his movement without the ball, rebounding and defensive presence. He emphasized that Orlando's new offensive system and improved spacing have made it easier for ballhandlers to find Carter in scoring positions, allowing him to capitalize on easier opportunities around the basket.
The team's resilience during its 2-1 road trip: Wagner emphasized that the Magic demonstrated the toughness and competitiveness they had established throughout training camp and preseason. While acknowledging that the team had not consistently displayed those qualities early in the regular season, he was encouraged by its response against Toronto. He stressed that maintaining that level of effort and resilience must become a habit if Orlando wants to reach its potential.
Stepping up during Toronto's late-game comeback attempt: Wagner emphasized his willingness to contribute in whatever way the team needed during critical moments. With Scottie Barnes finding success offensively, Wagner focused on creating scoring opportunities for his teammates, including multiple assists to rolling big men. He credited the team's collective defensive effort and improved offensive execution for helping Orlando regain control down the stretch.
Recording 11 assists and the impact of improved offensive spacing: Wagner credited Orlando's improved floor spacing and smarter offensive decision-making for creating opportunities to distribute the basketball. He emphasized that the Magic attacked more effectively than in their previous matchup against Toronto, allowing him to trust his teammates and create scoring opportunities through ball movement.
