The Green Bay Packers added veteran expertise next to Jordan Love by signing Tyrod Taylor . Head coach Matt LaFleur already likes what Taylor brings to a room already featuring an All-Pro.
LaFleur's grown to love Taylor's attitude, he told reporters Thursday.
"Tyrod, he's been awesome, man. He's really come into the room and is absorbing everything," LaFleur said. "He does have a little familiarity with our system. Obviously he's played a long time in this league. But it's good that he was with [Nathaniel] Hackett in New York. So everything isn't foreign."
Hackett served as the early OC under LaFleur toward the tail end of Aaron Rodgers ' Green Bay run. Hackett takes over the Arizona Cardinals offense for 2026 . But Taylor absorbed the system he ran during his brief Jets run from 2024 to 2025.
Taylor's signing during NFL Free Agency boosted the Packers' power ranking by ESPN earlier in May . The longtime veteran enters the Green Bay picture following the departure of Malik Willis , who signed with the Miami Dolphins . Green Bay even released Desmond Ridder to create room for Taylor to come onboard.
The former Virginia Tech star played his last two NFL seasons with the Jets, going 1-3 there as a starter. He's 29-31-1 all-time behind center during his 15-season career. Now he'll play for only his second NFC franchise ever after previously lining up for the New York Giants in 2022 and 2023.
LaFleur gains the luxury of knowing a past Pro Bowler backs up his franchise quarterback and already knows the system.
