Javon Bullard was the victim of an absurd taunting penalty during the Green Bay Packers ' game against the New York Jets in Week 2. Bullard was defending Jets wide receiver Adonai Mitchell during the first quarter when quarterback Geno Smith threw deep. Bullard broke up the pass, but a flag flew to the surprise of the safety.
While viewers assumed it might have been a late pass interference call, it turned out the flag was for taunting. After Bullard broke up the pass, he looked right at Mitchell and spoke to him. No one has any idea what he said, but the brief conversation was enough to turn a third-down stop into a 15-yard gain and first down for the Jets.

The Jets ended up punting a few plays later, so this call isn't going to change the outcome of the game, but it did seem like a ludicrous penalty.
Considering what happened with Bullard last week, he won't find many non-Packers fans feeling sorry for him. Bullard is the player who delivered the dangerous hit to Kyler Murray in Week 1 that knocked him out of the Packers-Vikings game. ESPN's Tedy Bruschi called out Bullard for the dirty play on "Get Up" earlier this week.
Bullard was a second-round pick in 2024. He played in all 17 games for the Packers last season, registering 83 tackles.
