On Monday, the San Diego Padres agreed to a new minor league contract with an infielder/outfielder who was previously designated for assignment.
According to Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune , Nick Solak has re-signed with the NL West club and will report to Triple-A El Paso.
Solak, 31, has made four apperances with San Diego in the Majors in 2026.
In 10 trips to the plate, the former second-round pick of the New York Yankees has one hit and one RBI.
"As mentioned, he keeps swinging it in the minors. Dating back to the start of the 2024 season, he has a .325/.410/.482 line and 133 wRC+ at the Triple-A level," Darragh McDonald of MLB Trade Rumors wrote about Solak.
"That has led to limited big league looks, but he doesn't really have the defensive versatility teams look for in a bench bat, and he is out of options, so he often gets squeezed off rosters."
Solak spent parts of the first four seasons of his career with the Texas Rangers , playing a career-high 127 games in 2021.

That year, he hit 11 homers with 49 RBIs to go along with a .677 OPS.
Now that Solak is back with the Padres, he will serve as solid infield and outfield depth at Triple-A.
