The Florida Panthers closed their season with an emphatic 8-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings , and Matthew Tkachuk made sure the message carried beyond the final buzzer. Despite missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs , Tkachuk delivered a bold guarantee that quickly caught attention during a post-game interview with Katie Engleson. The moment came right after the win.
Under the arena lights, he paused and took it all in. Then he said it clearly. "We have the best fans in the world, and we're going to give them playoff hockey next year." It echoed through a season that ended short of expectations for a championship core.

The Panthers finished with a 40-38-4 record , placing seventh in the Atlantic Division. That reality stings. This is still the same group that won the Stanley Cup in 2024 and 2025. However, injuries disrupted rhythm throughout the year. Consistency never fully returned. Even so, the finale showed something different. The Panthers attacked early. They controlled the pace. They finished with authority. The result did not change the standings, but it reminded everyone what this group can be.
Matthew Tkachuk fuels Panthers belief for next season
Tkachuk's words carried more meaning because they matched the identity on the ice. He pointed directly to Panthers fans and the energy that fueled the team all season. In Sunrise, the rat-throwing tradition thrives on moments like this. Energy builds. The crowd roars. Belief returns. That connection remains one of the strongest foundations this team has moving forward. The win over the Red Wings showed that edge is still there when everything clicks.
At the same time, Tkachuk reinforced the mindset inside the Panthers locker room. "There's just no quit at all," he said. That line defines the group. Even in a season that fell short of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the fight never disappeared. Now comes rest. Then comes reset.
So as the noise fades and the offseason begins, one promise lingers: when the lights come back on, will the Panthers deliver on Matthew Tkachuk's guarantee?
