The Carolina Panthers may have the new favorite for the weirdest injury of the entire 2025 campaign.
Defensive lineman Tershawn Wharton was unexpectedly added to the team's Week 15 injury report on Saturday due to a hamstring issue. But why?
Head coach Dave Canales, on Monday, explained what had happened to Wharton right before this weekend's matchup against the New Orleans Saints .
"Walkthrough. Walkthrough, hamstring," Canales stated with a sigh. "Honestly, he tripped. He tripped on a teammate and put his foot down to try to gather himself and that was enough to do it. And it was really unfortunate. I think, in my 16 years, that's the first time that's ever happened.
"And really unfortunate for Turk. He was excited to be out there. He was very upset, very disappointed."
Wharton did not end up playing in the 20-17 loss .
The sixth-year veteran previously missed two games this season due to a hamstring tweak and two more with a toe injury.
