Fans are calling out Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes for his performances despite the team's strong 5-2 start to the 2026 NFL season.
Mahomes rushed his rehab from a torn ACL to be ready for the Chiefs' season-opening clash in Week 1, and has since led the team to a 5-2 record as their starting QB in the 2026 NFL season.
Unfortunately, after fans took a closer look at the Chiefs' schedule and Mahomes' performances this season, their mood towards the 31-year-old QB soured almost immediately.
After back-to-back losses to the Seattle Seahawks (20-3) and the Denver Broncos (28-24), fans realised that the true reality of the Chiefs' 5-0 start to the season was because of their relatively simple schedule.
Three of the Chiefs' wins came against some of the worst teams in the NFL this season, including the Colts (2-6), Dolphins (1-6), and Chargers (0-6). They beat the 4-4 Raiders by three points, with their only strong win coming over the Broncos in Week 1.
After the reality of the Chiefs' record was brought to fans' attention, they were less than impressed with Mahomes and the team.
"Mahomes is now 2-8 in his last 10 games against teams with a winning record. He has thrown 11 TDs and 10 INTs in those games, with a 78.9 Passer Rating," shared a fan to highlight Mahomes' struggles .
"Patrick 'The Schedule' Mahomes," said another fan .
"Move over Drake Maye, there's another schedule merchant in town," was the conclusion one fan came to .
"Fraud watch is on!" said a fan .
"This is what a fraudulent team is not one that wins games regardless of the opponent but gets called fraudulent because the QB isn't putting up ridiculous stats," weighed in one fan with a larger criticism for the Chiefs .
The Chiefs' early success has predominantly been focused on their run game around RB Kenneth Walker III. Mahomes has been an efficient option, but the bulk of KC's offensive success has come from their run game rather than Mahomes' deep-ball throwing.
Mahomes has gone 154/232 on pass attempts this season for 1,795 yards, 12 TDs and four interceptions. He has 77 yards on 21 carries for one TD as well.
Mahomes has a 67.4 QBR, which would rank him among the mid-range QBs in the NFL this season. Despite having some solid box score performances, especially their recent loss to the Broncos, Mahomes has not been able to withstand collapses or overcome aggressive defences.
KC's defence and run game have dominated their relatively weak opponents so far. With the games getting harder over the winter, it is time for Mahomes to step up and rediscover the form that's helped him secure two regular-season MVPs over his career.
