Patrick Reed has done the hard work to earn his way back onto the Ryder Cup team, and Team USA captain Jim Furyk has no excuse to leave him off the roster. In January, the American star departed LIV Golf to repair his legacy, and his latest European circuit results confirm he is prepared for the premier stage once more. According to eticketing.co, numerous golf experts consider Reed a premier talent for the American squad. His path is clear: he served his forced one-year tour waiting period and is now back in full swing.
Reed is not just talking about his return; he is proving it with wins. His position in the Race to Dubai has risen to second place following two major European Tour wins this season. Such robust form indicates he retains the precise touch needed to triumph in elite golf tournaments. GolfMagic reported that Golf journalist Sean Zak recently highlighted his impressive resurgence on the DP World Tour. Rory McIlroy from Northern Ireland remains close in third, while Reed pursues Eugenio Chacarra of Europe for the top points. His excellent showing at the Irish Open, finishing second behind Shane Lowry, demonstrated an ability to easily conquer difficult, windy links courses.

The Captain America Factor Returns
Ryder Cup selection is about more than just current form; it is about who can handle the pressure when the crowd gets loud. At the 2014 tests, Reed began boldly in the team game and formed a winning streak with Jordan Spieth that week. Earning Reed the famous moniker Captain America due to his intensity, this pair combined for four wins and one loss. Supporters adored his intense energy and piercing putt under pressure throughout those initial contests. Although captain Jim Furyk later separated the Spieth pairing in Paris, Reed's raw match-play talent remains unquestioned across the entire professional golf world.
Jim Furyk aims to select the twelve finest players for overseas competition, and Reed matches that profile perfectly. His previous actions demonstrate an ability to manage intense pressure before raucous crowds. While that grueling week in Paris caused friction between Reed and team leaders, he has displayed focus by traveling to various nations to compete. Thus, Reed possesses a genuine forward path provided he continues winning major events.
Why Ireland Needs Reed's Fire
The 2027 Ryder Cup will be played in Ireland, and the European team will rely on their home crowd to win. The United States needs players who can feed off that energy rather than crumble under it. Reed built a formidable match-play reputation during early Ryder Cup contests, and his presence consistently provided the United States with a significant lift during crucial matches versus Europe. He consistently sinks clutch birdies whenever his team needs them most. Team USA cannot afford to sit on the sidelines a player who thrives in that specific environment.

Reed is hunting for the points lead against top European stars, which proves he belongs in the conversation. His vigorous summer performance earned respect from many skeptical media members. The question is not if he should play, but if Furyk will have the courage to pick him.
